Year 5 Science Trip

On Wednesday 13th March, Year 5 attended a talk by Professor Robert Taylor from the University of Oxford Physics Department at Our Lady’s Abingdon.  During the course of the morning, the children saw what happened when the air was removed from a vacuum chamber containing a marshmallow man, the various effects of liquid nitrogen, the effects of frozen carbon dioxide and what happens when you mix water, bubble solution and helium.  The trip finished with a fantastic treat – a sample of ice cream made in under 5 minutes made by Professor Taylor using liquid nitrogen!  Almost everyone agreed that it was very tasty!
