Year 3 Visit to the Botanic Gardens

posted in: Year Three News 0

On Friday 28th June 3SA had a fantastic day out at the Oxford Botanical Gardens. They were able to explore the vast range of plants and went on a mini treasure hunt to find specific trees and plants. (We located the oldest tree in the gardens which was 374 years old.) The children learnt about plants from all over the world and even the different climates some plants need to survive. It was very hot in some of the greenhouses containing tropical plants. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed a delicious waste free picnic in the beautiful gardens.  We generated 1,330 grams of compost, 75 grams of recycling and 35 grams of rubbish. Overall we generated 0.97 grams of rubbish per person which was a brilliant result- Thank you for supporting us with this challenge!
