On Wednesday, Year 6 had the opportunity to visit The STEAM Museum in Swindon for their special ‘We’ll Meet Again’ week. The children had a fantastic time, experiencing air raids, being evacuated and even getting to climb aboard a real steam train! We met an incredible gentleman – Fred – who was 11 years old when the war began. He told us about growing up during the war, how rationing
affected everyone and even described his first job as a signalman at the age of 14! The children played with toys and games from the war era and we discovered how families changed during the war, when women took over the jobs that the men had left behind.
It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all.
