After practising almost twenty songs for the last three months, the Rush Common Choir took part in this year’s Festival of Voices. This is a wonderful annual event that combines choirs from varIous Oxfordshsire schools who , this year, gathered in the beautiful Dorchester Abbey to sing together.
The theme was the ‘The Sea’ and the children sang classic arrangements of ‘Sailing’ , ‘Michael Row the Boat Ashore’ ; songs in Welsh and African and even a Muppets song, ‘Sailing for Adventure’!
The children rose to the occasion and performed confidently and with great enthusiasm to a packed Abbey. The sun shone, a picnic lunch was eaten in the gardens and a very enjoyable and memorable time was had by all.
A very special word of thanks is due to Mrs Lipp, Mrs Burgess and Mrs Kemp-Harper who volunteered their help and ensured that this all could go ahead.
