Remembrance 2017

As a school, we commemorated Remembrance Day today. Each year group created a wreath, made from paper poppies mounted on to tyres. Several children’s relatives, who had fought in wars were honoured and remembered on plaques placed around the outside of the outdoor classroom.

At 11 o’clock Mr Owen, from a local music group, sounded the last post. This was followed by a minute’s silence. Several children then read war poems by Rupert Brooke and Rudyard Kipling and Year 2 sang a song, called, ‘Peace’.
