I have been a Director at Rush Common School since 2011. I consider my position to be an honour and a privilege that comes with huge responsibility – A responsibility that can only be satisfied with the support of a strong board. I consider it fortunate that both the school and myself have that strong support.
I live and work locally, all three of my children attended Rush Common (some years ago!) and my late wife was clerk to the Governors. The school has been an important part of my life.
As a Director my mandate is inevitably wide ranging but my particular interest lies with community engagement. As a means of widening a child’s horizon the importance of involving the wider school community should never be underestimated.
On a personal front I am a Chartered Surveyor and a co-owner of Kemp & Kemp (planning and development consultants). I enjoy most sports and suffer the “slings and arrows” of being an England rugby fan, I enjoy physical challenges and have completed the Blenheim Triathlon for the last two years, enjoy history and particularly local history but my first love is the theatre. I am never happier than when immersed in the dark writing of Checkov, the down to earth reality of Alan Bennett, or the entangled web of a Shakespearean plot.
