Year 6 pupils were invited by Mr Chris Wilmshurst, one of the school directors, to visit the offices of Kemp & Kemp in Abingdon on 4th November 2016 to share poems they had written about a First World War soldier.
Roy D’Almaine had lived in what is now the Kemp & Kemp offices and had attended Abingdon School. At the age of 19, he was killed in action on 4th November 1916. His name is one of the many on the War Memorial in the centre of Abingdon.
Along with Roy’s great niece and nephew they laid poppies and a wreath to commemorate the centenary of his death.
