We took our team of 3 superstars to the Vale Boccia Competition in Faringdon on Thursday 28th November. It was a busy sports hall full of 29 teams! Each group had 5 teams playing against each other. Our group consisted of West Oxford A, Caldecott B, Thameside C and Wantage C. We lost our first game to West Oxford 6-1, but we did not let this defeat us. We went on to win our next games 3-1, 4-3 and 3-1.
This put us into the quarterfinals against John Blandy School, in a tight game which resulted in a tie break. – We eventually won 3-2. In the semi-finals against Stanford, after a 1-0 loss in the first end we pulled it back to win 3-1. The final against against Appleton saw us win every game. We came away with a 3-1 victory, leaving us as Vale Champions.
Boccia is a very skilful game that requires lots of aim and concentration. Special thanks are due to to Mrs Macaccaro and Mrs Van Der Werf without whom we could not have attended.
